Greek Finance Ministry new plan to affect property taxes

Parental benefits, objective proper value estimation to be influenced

The Greek Finance Ministry is planning to overhaul the property tax legislation by the end of the year. According to the new target plans signed by head of General secretariat for public revenues, George Pistiolis, the organisation will have to table its proposals to the Greek Finance Ministry by November 30, laying down the changes on property taxes. Sources say that changes in the new plan include reforms in the calculation of property value aimed at higher taxes on large property owners; the assessment in real time of objective property value, so that their values reflect, as much as possible, real market values; changes in tax free threshold levels that could possibly affect parental benefits.
