The US Secretary of Treasury Jack Lew had a phone contact with his Greek counterpart Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos on Tuesday evening and stressed the key role of the IMF in the process of reforms, while urging the Greek government implement the reforms.

According to the US Department of State, it is important that the Greek government continues to implement reforms and closely cooperate with its international creditors.

Mr. Lew also pointed out the importance for the international community to keep its promise to make the Greek debt sustainable by providing the necessary relief provided that Greek authorities fulfill their commitments and continue to implement the agreed upon reforms.

He also added that the US Treasury will keep “a close eye” on financial developments in Greece.
