Halloween is coming to Greece!

Your guide to spooky Halloween events in Greece!

Ancient Greeks had no end to costumed revelry but Halloween isn’t really celebrated in Greece. Not ones to miss out on masked revelry and a good party, Greeks are beginning to cotton on to the concept of tricking and treating.

Halloween-2011-074

The 5th annual “Trunk or Treating/Trick or Treating” expat event takes place at the parking lot next to the cemetary of the northern suburb of Kifissia at the end of Harilaou Trikoupi Street at 4 p.m. on November 1. All families interested in taking part park at the lot and let the kids go trick and treating from car to car. There is also a prize for the best-decorated car.

Last year, several of the cars had games with special prizes for the children. And there were plenty of Halloween-styled munchies and warm apple juice for the adults.

Those interested in taking part can volunteer for the goody table as well as for voting on the best costume, car or pumpkin. All proceeds gathered from a 2-euro door charge will go to charity.
