Illegal migrants from opposing countries again clash on Lesvos (watch video)

Infrequent food deliveries cause tempers to flair; Syrian refugees used as ‘cover’ to smuggle hundreds of Third World nationals onto Greek isles

Another riot broke out amongst the third country nationals, mostly Pakistanis and Afghans, over food deliveries at a temporary migrant shelter on the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos (Lesbos) on Thursday.

The incident was the latest instance of hostility between the migrants, all of whom managed to reach the island or were ferried over from the opposite Turkish coast, this week. Earlier this week groups of Afghans clashed with Syrian refugees, with several stabbings and injuries reported by authorities on the island.

Migrant smugglers have used the flow of Syrian refugees towards the EU as the latest “cover” to smuggle Third World nationals seeking to reach west European destinations.

Thursday’s “prize” was a food catering truck that arrived at the camp, some three kilometers outside the island’s capital, Mytilene. The vehicle was destroyed during the ensuing melee.

While Greece is struggling to find a solution to the ongoing debt, liquidity and financing quagmire it finds itself in, the central government in Athens appears unable to either prevent or manage the continuing flow of people onto its islands, people alternately identified as migrants/illegal migrants/ refugees/ undocumented migrants / irregular migrants / refugees/ asylum seekers etc.

Only recently have the coast guard and police sent additional staff to Lesvos in order to speed up the process of identifying and issuing temporary papers to the third party nationals.
