Independent Greeks leader: A change of course is needed for Greece

Greece must return to Greek hands, said Mr. Kammenos

Independent Greeks leader Panos Kammenos underlined on Tuesday that Greece has to change course and the austerity policy has to end.

“A change of course is needed for Greece. The unemployment and the continuous recession, the shutting down of businesses and the lack of vision and hope show that we can’t continue with this austerity policy,” Kammenos stressed.

Asked whether he believes that the troika will leave Greece and whether a president will be elected, he answered: “First, we must make sure that troika leaves. Presidents come and go.”

“We will do whatever it takes so that the troika leaves. If this policy continues, we will have supervision until 2047. This means loss of national sovereignty,” Mr. Kammenos underlined, adding that “Greece must return to Greek hands. After that we will be able to elect a president and proceed with other institutional changes.”
