Juncker expressed his support for Samaras

The candidate of the European People’s Party for European Commission President stressed that the Christian Democratic governments have higher growth and lower debt

“Even Greece is doing better with a Christian Democratic government,” stated the European People ‘s Party candidate for President of the European Commission Jean – Claude Juncker, stressing that the European Union countries with governments that belong to the EPP have higher growth and lower debt compared to countries with socialist governments. He also underlined that he supports job creation and introduction of a minimum wage in all the countries of the European Union.

“We Christian-Democrats support stability, growth and the creation of new jobs. Even Greece is doing better with a Christian Democratic government. If highest debts brought better results, then France would be in better condition than Germany,”said Mr Juncker in an interview with “Bild am Sonntag”. When asked “why should anyone vote for him and not for Martin Schultz” he replied that the President of the European Commission is mainly chosen by the Heads of States and Governments of the European Union and answered affirmatively to the question on whether Chancellor Merkel has committed to support him should the EPP won the elections.

Referring to his proposal for the introduction of a minimum wage in all countries – members of European Union, Mr Juncker clarified that it is not possible for the minimum wage to be at the same level in all countries. More specifically, he said “Bulgaria cannot pay the same wage as Luxembourg”.
