Juncker: I am proud that Greece is still in Eurozone

“There were many who were saying that Europe would not make it and that Greece would exit from the euro”

Jean-Claude Juncker, candidate for the presidency of the European Commission, said that he was proud that Greece was still a eurozone member state.

Speaking at the European Parliament plenary, Juncker stressed that European Commission is not the secretariat of European Council and that it will be a political instrument.

Regarding the eurocrisis, Junkcer said that “We managed to repair a flying plane that was burning. There were many who were saying that Europe would not make it and that Greece would exit from the euro and the eurozone. I am proud that this great nation, Greece, is still a member of the eurozone.

He also said that the role of Troika should be reconsidered and a democratic audit should be performed by European Parliament.
