Justice ministry urges imprisoned hunger strikers to end their protest

The hunger strikers include convicted terrorists Dimitris Koufodinas and Nikos Maziotis

The justice ministry on Sunday urged the inmates serving terrorism-related sentences to end to end their 29-day hunger strike and wait for the drafting of new laws that may satisfy some of their demands.

Doctors monitoring the prisoners asked the justice minister to take immediate measures to prevent permanent damages in the health of the hunger strikers, which include convicted ultra-leftist urban terrorist Dimitris Koufodinas and “new generation” anti-state bank robber Nikos Maziotis.

In response to the request, the ministry called on the inmates’ doctors to respect their choice but to intervene in case of an emergency.
