A man armed with a knife killed a teacher and injured at least two other people at Gambetta High School in the city of Aras.

According to information from BFMTV, the assailant, aged about 20 and originally from Chechnya, shouted “Allah is great” at the time of the attack.

The attacker, who is said to be a graduate of the High School where he spread death and terror today, has been arrested, French Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin confirmed on X.

“A police operation took place at Gambetta high school in Arras. The perpetrator was arrested by the police,” the interior minister said.

A little while later, according to local media, his brother was also arrested.

The city of Arras is located in northern France in the Haut-de-France region, in the south-eastern part of the department of Pas-de-Calais, 162 kilometers north of Paris.
