The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the Aegis program

At the naming ceremony of the two new state-of-the-art firefighting vessels held in Piraeus on Wednesday morning, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed that investments in civil protection are imperative due to the climate crisis.

He emphasized that the government has secured 2.1 billion euros for infrastructure in civil protection and firefighting.

“I am pleased and moved to be present today at this naming ceremony of the two state-of-the-art vessels of the Fire Brigade. The Minister of Climate Crisis spoke about the tremendous effort made by the state to modernize the infrastructure of civil protection. The climate crisis makes investment in civil protection imperative”, said Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the beginning of the ceremony.

The Prime Minister expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the Aegis program, noting that funding of 2.1 billion euros is allocated to firefighting and civil protection.

“Nothing can be achieved without the women and men of the firefighting corps who offer their service for the good and safety of us all 365 days a year. Today is a touching moment as we decided on names for two of these vessels’ crew members who fell in the line of duty. The least we can do for these people is to never forget their memory”, emphasized the Prime Minister.
