Large amount of munitions commandeered in Crete

Cargo was headed for Syria, say Lebanese media

Greek port authorities confiscated 6,400 carbines and a large amount of ammunition at Souda Bay, in Crete, Friday. The Greek authorities found the large munitions cargo after searching on the vessel ‘Kuki Boy’ flying a Togo flag. The investigations came to completion on Friday and the port authorities proceeded with the commandeering of the freight. The ship had left from a port in Lebanon, with Lebanese media reporting that the munitions might have been heading to warring factions in Syria. The Greek Maritime Ministry released a statement confirming the content and the confiscation of the cargo.
