Leftist Die Linke MP accuses Berlin of working against SYRIZA

DL told German leader to consider the chain reaction that could be caused to the eurozone in the case of Greek debt

Top Die Linke MP Gregor Gysi of has accused the German government of deliberately seeking to remove Greece’s Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) government, speaking in the Bundestag n Wednesday.

The German lawmaker defended the timing of the referendum called by Greek PM Alexis Tsipras, saying he “had no other choice,” after what he said was an ultimatum presented by the lenders.

Gysi called on German Chancellor Angela Merkel to find a solution, even at the last minute, and go down in history as the “savior” and not the “destroyer” of Europe.

Speaking during a special session on Greece, Gysi said the course adopted by Berlin and institutional creditors had failed, while the previous bailouts were for the banks and not the citizens or the countries supposedly being bailed out.
