Legalise it: 36 SYRIZA MPs call for legal use of medicinal cannabis

They cite examples in other EU countries

36 SYRIZA MPs have called for the use of medicinal marijuana in a question submitted to Greek Health Minister Panagiotis Kouroumblis. The MPs are towing the line of the Greek PM Alexis Tsipras’s newly appointed advisor Nikos Karanikas, who had recently proposed the use of cannabis for medicinal purposes.

The deputies, which include Tasos Kourakis, Lila Kafantari and Gerasimos Balaouras among others, cite requests by Greek patients’ group that call for ther revision of outdated legislation in order to allow the prescription of medicine containing THC and to be permitted to have legal possession of marijuana for medical reasons. The MPs ask the Minister what actions he intends to take to open a national dialogue on the matter, while they presented data from other European countries where marijuana has been legalised for patients to use.
