Marc post-train crash poll – ND leads SYRIZA by 4.6%

Mitsotakis still leads on who is more suitable to be PM

The ruling New Democracy (ND) party maintains a 4.6-point-lead over SYRIZA, according to a poll by Marc aired on Ant-1 TV on Thursday’s nightly news bulletin.

In terms of voting intention, the ruling party remains first with 29.6% and SYRIZA follows with 25%. In third place is PASOK with 9.7%, followed by KKE at 6.6%, Hellenic Solution at 3.9%, and MeRA25 at 3.5%. The “National Greek Party” is on the threshold of the 3% limit required to enter the Parliament.

Marc’s poll is the first to be carried out since the fatal train crash in Larissa and according to the findings, ND is losing 2.9 points in voter intention from 32.5% in February. However, it is also noteworthy that SYRIZA does not seem to have gained benefits from the tragedy in Tempi (it was at 25.1% in February).

Kyriakos Mitsotakis is holding on to a clear lead in the question of who is more suitable to be Prime Minister as 38.9% of the respondents have a positive opinion of him compared to 28.5% for Alexis Tsipras. In negative opinions, the prime minister is at 60.3% against the 70.9% that Alexis Tsipras has.

86% of the respondents express great concern about the accident in Larissa, while only 12.1% consider that the responsibilities fall exclusively on the fatal station master. 87% answer that there are also responsibilities elsewhere.

Finally, public opinion is split on the timing of the elections with 45.2% supporting that the elections should be held on April 9 and 46.4% indicating May.
