Maroussi: Tightening the grip on the perpetrator of the murder – A matter of time his arrest, say police officers

Most of the 10 or so people involved in the scuffle that took place outside the shop are said to have a criminal past

Investigations by members of the National Police are in full swing to identify and arrest the perpetrator of the murder of the young man at dawn last Sunday outside a nightclub in Maroussi.

The man has been identified and, according to police sources, he has a criminal record – that is, he has previously been concerned by the authorities for other offences.

In fact, he is not the only one as, according to information, most of the 10 or so people involved in the fight that took place outside the shop reportedly have a criminal past involving car theft, drugs and so on.

Police officials believe that the arrest of the killer is only a matter of time, adding that apart from the man in question, they are also looking for other persons who may have been involved in the incident and are evading arrest.

It will be recalled that a 23-year-old man who was attacked with a knife in the neck and a 26-year-old soldier and a 23-year-old man were injured in the tragedy. According to reports, the 26-year-old soldier was in the company of the assailant, while the other injured man is on the side of the victim.

The cause of the altercation was minor with reports that one of the parties involved, who is still unknown, reportedly said: “Move over, you looked at me the wrong way”.

The offender was reportedly inside the club and while partying, he argued over trivial matters with another person. This person left shortly afterwards and returned to the club with the 23-year-old victim, who was not in the premises at the time, as backup.

The perpetrator then, went outside with his companion where the deadly altercation began. It is noted that during the melee, the 23-year-old took out the gun he had on his belt and attempted to shoot.
