Med seal stakes claim to Samos beach bed

No word on whether Argyro was billed for the beach bed… whether she was issued a receipt and at what … VAT rate

The latest “beach babe” photographed on a Grecian isle isn’t even a homo sapiens, as MOM, the non-profit organization dedicated to preserving habitats for the endangered Mediterranean monk seal (Monachus monachus), circulated this pic on its Facebook page.

The caption reads:

“We present to you Argyro!!! A young, 2-year old seal, which has lately found it’s home in the beautiful beaches of Samos, where, because of her familiarity with humans, she sunbaths imitating others next to her!!! According to local murmurs, she loves to swim and play games with humans (hugs, little cute bites, etc.)!!! However, she is still a wild animal, and a big one at that, so special attention and safe distance-keeping are always necessary, and, no matter how familiar she is with humans, we should always avoid any contact, especially when it comes to children!
Special thanks to Anna Tserepa for the photo!!!”

Samos is in the eastern Aegean, some distance away from the main habitat and breeding grounds of the monk seal in Mediterranean, the island of Alonissos and its surrounding islets.
