The event will include the unveiling of a statue of Major Vasilios Papagiannis commander of the 5th Battalion of Lesvos, soldiers of the Archipelago Division, who died in battle. initially the statue was places at Eleftherias Square, however, was later moved. The monument has been recreated by sculptors Giannis Kalargalis and Kostas Pavlidellis in pentelic marble and will be presented today.
