New Defence Minister Nikos Dendias made a statement concerning his appointment following the resignation of the incoming European Commissioner for Migration and Home Affairs. He said that the appointment is an honor for him.

“It is obvious that the security environment in our wider region is more fragile than ever and that the risks are many and often unpredictable,” he said, adding that Greece has to remain a stabilizing force within the wider region and continue to defend the principles of democracy.
