Obama calls for Muslim communities in US to quell extremist ideas

He underlined that young Muslims are prone to believing in a Jihad

US President Barack Obama called for Muslim communities in the US to do everything in their power to combat extremism.

Critics have charged that the Obama administration avoids confronting the idea that extremism is linked to Islam, especially after the Jihadist attacks in Paris and Copenhagen.

Obama stated that Muslim leaders must do more in order to eliminate the notion that the West wants to destroy Islam, and added that young Muslims are especially prone to accepting extremist propaganda, which can lead many to join ISIS or carry out “lone wolf” attacks within their own countries.

This comes at a time when more than 150 US Citizens have reportedly traveled to Syria in order to fight alongside ISIS.
