One billion euros’ worth of deposits “gone” from Greek banks, today

Following Monday’s negative example

The outflow of deposits from Greek banks continued at extremely high levels on Tuesday. According to sources, around one billion euros were withdrawn by depositors on Tuesday, days before an upcoming snap election.

The same sources state that the amount of money withdrawn or transferred on Monday, after depositors reacted to the news of banks seeking refuge in the ELA (Emergency Liquidity Assistance) was also around a billion euros.

Banking sources also confirm that the pressure continued on Tuesday, confirming negative projections showing an outflow of 4.5 billion in the week prior to elections.
