OTE museum: An exhibition about the miracle of communication in Thessaloniki

The first traveling exhibition of OTE Museum entitled “From the morse telegraph… to the red phone” will be presented at the Science Center and Technology Museum Noesis

OTE Museum of Telecommunications will launch the temporary exhibition “From the morse telegraph… to the red phone” at the the Science Center and Technology Museum Noesis. The exhibition is a vivid narrative that begins from the first attempt to transmit messages over long distances using electricity (morse telegraph), includes the transition to voice transmission from one station to another with the discovery of the phone (Graham Bell type devices) and extends to the current day in which communication is a commodity, accessible to everyone.

The exhibition includes educational activities for children organized by the Telecommunications Museum, which aim to educate the children about the miracle of communication in an entertaining manner.

OTE Telecommunications Museum preserves and exhibits important collections, closely connected with the history of Greek telecommunications and OTE. The museum operates since 1990 in the building of OTE in Kifissia and offers specific areas for its permanent exhibitions, screening and lecture hall, library and. The Museum’s collection includes more than 4,500 objects and a rich archival material.
The exhibition will run until June 30, 2014.
