Pandemic measures relax – Capacity of 50% in stadiums, the school trips allowed – “No” to the carnivals

The new measures will take effect from Saturday

The Greek government has approved the suggestion of the Covid expert committee to further relax the measures to deal with the pandemic.

Earlier, the committee’s recommendation was positive in the government’s request to increase the number of spectators in the stadiums from 10% to 50%. At the same time, the experts gave the “green light” for school trips from next week, but also for the multi-day excursions from March.

The experts also said “yes” to the return of standing frequents at closed entertainment venues, while they rejected the parades and carnival events.

In addition, conferences will be allowed to operate with 100% full capacity, if participants are vaccinated. There will also be a “hybrid” conference event with remote participation for the unvaccinated.

Immediately after the end of the meeting of the committee of experts, the Minister of Health, Thanassis Plevris, stated the following

“In today’s meeting, the expert committee responded positively to the government’s requests for school excursions, increasing stadium occupancy to 50% and implementing telework in the private and public sectors to 20%.

At tomorrow’s meeting, the committee will consider individual requests. The committee’s suggestion is accepted by the government and the details will be clarified in the forthcoming JMC. The new measures will be implemented from Saturday 19.02.22 “.
