The Greek Department of Health has made an amendment of the Ministry of Finance’s bill entitled “Principles of financial management and oversight – public accounting “,which opens the way for pharmaceutical coverage of the uninsured.
The National Organization of Health Services(EOPYY) under its form of an insurance agency with this legislation ,was not able to provide free medication to people who are not insured. This changed with the amendment made by the Ministry of Finance, which in the explanatory memorandum states that, in the context of the welfare state, considered as urgent coverage of pharmaceutical care for the uninsured citizens, given the economic downturn that has contributed to the increase in their number.
To conclude, pharmaceutical care will be provided to policyholders who have lost their insurance capacity and are not entitled pharmaceutical care services from any Social Security Agency.
