Environment, Energy and Climate Change Minister Yiannis Maniatis on Thursday urged other officials to join him in a meeting at 1 p.m. on December 4 to help him deal with the problem such as this abandoned building on Aiolou Street. His plan is to come up with legislation to deal with derelict buildings in the city center. To this end, he has issued invitations to the ministries of finance, interior, development, competitiveness, culture and sport, justice and human rights. He says that his ministry aims to create a “living urban fabric in cities with problems” and he is currently examining “the possibility of exploiting real estate after restoration and for as long as required in order to cover the cost of the work.”
