Patras Carnival is the most largest of Greece and combines French and Italian carnival traditions. Events kicked off this week. Over the next month locals and tourists are due to attend the carnival so its advisable to book hotels well in advance. Events escalate on February 22 this year with the burning of the King of the Carnival at the stake following a big parade of floats and costumed groups.
