Since 7 in the morning ceasefire began in the Gaza for the next 12 hours – until 7pm. This decision was taken by the Israeli Prime Minister Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu which announced it to U.S. Secretary of State Mr. John Kerry on Friday night.
Moreover, according to a diplomatic source, this morning an international meeting aimed at achieving a ceasefire in the Gaza will be held in Paris.
A diplomatic thriller was taking place on Friday with the cabinet security of Israel rejecting the proposal for a ceasefire in the Gaza, suggested by U.S. Secretary of State Mr. John Kerry.
However Kerry in statements from Cairo said that Israel did not rejected any U.S. ceasefire plan, but only some wordings, as a formal proposal had not been submitted.
He revealed that even a few minutes before the press conference in Cairo he spoke with Netanyahu, who assured him that the information talking about rejection by Israel is incorrect.
Speaking from Cairo, the head of American diplomacy said that he is convinced the Israeli Prime Minister Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu has pledged to work in order to find a solution and both sides to decide for a seven-day ceasefire.
According to his statements there were arguments about the “wording” for a ceasefire.
In the same press conference with Kerry was also the UN General Secretary Ban Ki-moon, who has called for a seven-day humanitarian ceasefire in Gaza as he can start with a 12-hour ceasefire which could then be extended.
