The old oil-merchants’ quarter known as Ladadika (means “shops that sell oil”) was once a dodgy district. In the Nineties, the area was converted into a great entertainment area full of trendy restaurants, bars and nightclubs. The region’s Nineties revival gave it a party-like atmosphere and it was always throbbing with spontaneity and dance. Singer Dimitris Mitropanos even dedicated a popular song to it! These days, however the economic crisis has led to the region losing its lustre but the atmospheric pedestrian walkways still remain a “must” on the tourist trail!
