Trypia Spilia at Hymettus was once a cave, but it collapsed. It now stands as a natural bridge at the Hymettus mountain range in the Athens area. It is also colloquially known as Trelloouni (Crazy Mountain), a name probably derived from the French salutation “tres long” (very long) by foreign visitors. In antiquity, there was a sanctuary dedicated to Zeus Ombrios (Zeus the Rain God) on the summit with numerous offerings dating to the 8th-7th centuries B.C.

* To join the tree-planting activity organized by the Volunteer Forestry Protection of South Hymettus on Sunday, January 8,  be at the cnr of Hymettus and Sarantaporou streets at 11 a.m. (behind the 3rd Primary School of Voula, across from the Alsos Square at Voula Panorama). Make sure you are dressed comfortably, have hiking shoes, water and snacks as well as a gardening tool.
