PM Mitsotakis: “Elections at the end of our term” (videos) (Upd.)

The PM said Greece is another Greece. It belongs to the states with the highest growth and the highest unemployment reduction in Europe

Newsroom July 6 01:21

Greek PM Mitsotakis addressed the Parliament outlining his government’s performance so far.

“Greece has the largest reduction in unemployment in Europe”, he said, adding that the country managed to return from the precipice of catastrophe during the years of SYRIZA. “Tsipras and Varoufakis want to return together”, Mitsotakis warned.

The PM began his speech by attacking SYRIZA but also presenting the government’s actions in social policy, during the scheduled debate in Parliament. Kyriakos Mitsotakis describes in detail all the measures of the last months that were taken to relieve the citizens.

Greece, he said, is among the countries with the biggest tax cuts and has paid off its IMF loan earlier and in August is freed from enhanced supervision. He called it a national success saying that it was not something to be taken for granted and was not achieved under smooth conditions. “For 36 months now, the country has been moving forward, overcoming successive crises from the illegal entry into Evros by refugees, the pandemic, threats from Turkey, and the energy crisis.”

“Today Greece is another Greece. It belongs to the states with the highest growth and the highest unemployment reduction in Europe. It is one of the first OECD countries to reduce taxes.”

The Prime Minister once again spoke about elections at the end of the four-year term in the Parliament, at the beginning of his second speech and in the context of the debate which takes place on the subject of informing the House about the government’s social policies.

The abolition of the solidarity levy for pensioners and civil servants and the “unfreezing” of increases in pensions from 1.1.2023 was announced earlier in his speech by the Prime Minister.

“Today we can now say with greater certainty that this government on 1.1.2023 will abolish the solidarity levy for everyone. For pensioners and civil servants. On the same day, pensions will be unfrozen for the first time in 12 years. This is a double resounding message that the country’s development should benefit everyone without threatening the fiscal balance”, he said.
