PM Mitsotakis: The “panic button” for women at risk is coming – How will the application work

The Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis addressed the Parliament on the occasion of the International Women's Day

Newsroom March 8 01:19

The Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis announced the introduction of an application, with the help of smart technology and the help of Vodafone, that will allow women whose lives are in danger to press a “panic button” on their mobile phone to report the incident.

Speaking at a special event on women’s rights, Mr. Mitsotakis also referred to the war in Ukraine, saying that “it is unjust, it hits the weakest and that is why it must stop immediately … Therefore, the struggle against the conquering authoritarianism automatically becomes a struggle for the equality of the leaves and the protection of the most vulnerable!”

The Prime Minister also referred to the ongoing programs related to women’s health, making special reference to the “Fofi Gennimata” which concerns comprehensive examinations for the prevention of breast and cervical cancer, which concerns more than 1.5 million women.
