Poland: 18-month prison sentence for a priest for sex crimes and involvement in orgies

According to Polish media reports, a man collapsed at the party after consuming an overdose of erectile dysfunction pills

A Polish priest has been sentenced to 18 months in prison for sex and drug crimes, state news agency PAP reported today, following an incident in which a man collapsed during a sexual orgy at the priest’s home.

According to Polish media reports, a man collapsed at the party after consuming an overdose of pills for erectile dysfunction.

One of the party attendees called an ambulance, but when paramedics arrived they were denied entry and were only able to give him first aid after the police were called, according to MME.

The diocesan press office did not immediately respond to an email request for comment.

The priest, referred to as Thomas Z, was convicted of sex offenses, administering drugs and obstructing assistance to a person whose life was in danger, and aggravated assault.

The priest was also ordered to pay the victim 15,000 zloty ($3,820) in compensation and to pay several thousand zloty to a fund set up to help victims of crime.

Due to the nature of the case, the trial was held behind closed doors, PAP reported.

The agency’s sources said the priest will not appeal.

The Diocese of Sosnowiec in southwestern Poland has been at the center of scandals since reports of a sex party in the town of Dambrova Gornica came to light last year.
