Potami leader Stavros Theodorakis cross-channel press conference

Called on Greek voters to make his party third force

Stavros Theodorakis leader of centrist party ‘To Potami’ (River) called on the Greek people to turn their backs on the other political forces and support his political party to reach third place in the September 20 elections. During his cross-channel television press conference, Wednesday Theodorakis set the goal of his party at 10% of the votes. He said the country had paid a high enough price for backing New Democracy, SYRIZA and PASOK for so long, while he called on SYRIZA to make clear what exactly it intended to do after the elections, pledging that there would no elections for the next 3 years. Theodorakis called on SYRIZA leader and former Greek PM Alexis Tsipras to take a position on the matter of high profile SYRIZA MP and former Minister Alekos Flambouraris regarding the conflict of interest that arose after the disclosure that a construction company in which Flambouraris was a major shareholder was awarded a public tender during his tenure as Minister. Theodorakis also accused Tsipras of being privy to the revelations that former Minister and MP of junior government partners ANEL, Pavlos Haikalis was involved in an offshore company in Cyprus. He blasted former Greek Parliament president Zoe Konstantopoulou pointing out that she was ‘after him’ because he had exposed her as defending rapists and murderers. Before the question session started a team of the party’s staff outlined the party’s economic program.
