Schultz warns of EU disintegration due to refugee issue

He expressed his pessimism about the results of the EU meeting on refugee stating that he does not expect significant developments

The President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, warned of a possible disintegration of the European Union due refugee crisis, while speaking to a German newspaper, in light of EU meeting to take place on Thursday.

Mr. Schulz said that “the trenches that are being dug could lead to the failure of EU. The EU is reversible like everything else … We must not allow this to happen”.

The President of the European Parliament expressed also his pessimism about the results of the EU meeting on refugee stating that he does not expect significant developments.

He also said that he is ready for tough negotiations: “I have been fighting for 20 years to better protect EU’s external borders. And what has happened? Nothing,” he added.

Regarding the refugees, he calls them to realize that “not all of them can go to Germany or Sweden”.
