Stormy winds up to 10 Beaufort forecast for Greece

The phenomena will start from Monday afternoon

Stormy winds between 8 to 10 Beaufort are forecast starting late Monday and lasting into Wednesday, according to a bulletin released by the Hellenic National Meteorological Service.

In some regions, heavy rains and thunderstorms, temporary heavy snowfall in central and north, and a noticeable drop in temperature are also forecast. In more detail:

For Monday (07-02-2022)

a) Stormy north northwest winds will prevail in the west from the evening hours, whose intensity will reach 8 to 9 Beaufort.

b) Heavy rains and thunderstorms in regions will occur from the afternoon in the northern Ionian and Epirus, which at night will extend to Macedonia, Thrace, Thessaly, Sporades, southern Ionian, Sterea, Peloponnese, and the islands of the northern Aegean.

Heavy snowfall is forecast from the evening in western Macedonia and in the mountains – semi-mountains of Epirus and gradually in central and eastern Macedonia and Thrace.

B. Tuesday (08-02-2022)
a) Stormy north northwest winds will blow throughout the country intensity 8 to 10 Beaufort.
b) In places, heavy rains and thunderstorms will occur from the early morning hours in the sea and coastal areas of eastern Macedonia, Thrace, and Thessaly, in the Sporades, in Evia, in the islands of the northern and eastern Aegean, gradually in the Dodecanese and in the Cyclades and Crete.
Heavy snowfall in places will occur in the mountains and semi-mountainous regions of eastern Macedonia, Thrace, and Evia. The phenomena in eastern Macedonia and Thrace will rapidly wane and will completely cease in the afternoon, while gradually until the evening they will be limited to the Cyclades, Crete, and the Dodecanese.
c) The temperature will drop significantly by 8 to 10 degrees Celsius in northern and central Greece.

C. Wednesday (09-02-2022)
a) In the morning, the stormy north northwest winds will be maintained with a local intensity of 9 Beaufort in the central and southern Aegean, but will gradually be limited to the southeast, and from noon they will weaken.
b) In the morning there will be heavy rains in places in the Cyclades and northern Crete.
