The Panhellenic Pharmacists Association is holding a 24-hour strike to protest the opening of closed professions as planned by the new bailout agreement decided upon by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in Brussels on the weekend. The Public Sector Workers Union is holding a 24-hour strike meaning that tax offices, court houses, public state hospitals and other public services, including the Citizens’ Information Center (KEP) will be closed on Wednesday. Some public-run museums may also be shut so call up in advance.
The Red and Blue Metro lines will be shut this morning from the beginning of the shift until 9 a.m., however lines to and from the airport will be affected during the entire day as well as trains and the surburban lines (Proastiakos). The Green line from Kifissias-Piraeus is working as usual as well as blue buses, trolley buses and trams.
Protest rallies
Rallies are to be held at Klafthmonos Square at 11 a.m. as well as a large anti-bailout protest at Syntagma Square at 7.30 p.m. on Wednesday.
