SYRIZA central committee to meet on Saturday

The meeting was originally scheduled to take place today

Main opposition SYRIZA party said in an official announcement on Friday that the meeting of its central committee, originally scheduled for today, January 2, will take place on Saturday, January 3.

The central committee will meet to discuss the party’s strategy ahead of the upcoming national elections.

It should be noted that, although the main opposition’s leadership may have been disappointed by the recent falling out between SYRIZA and Democratic Left parties regarding the prospect of cooperation, a large portion of SYRIZA members, who don’t agree with DIMAR’s views, appear to be satisfied with this development.

This is why tomorrow’s meeting is especially important: SYRIZA head Alexis Tsipras wants to include in the list of the party’s candidates for the upcoming elections four MPs of social democratic background who supported the main opposition by voting against the President Republic, namely Theodora Tzakri, Marcos Bolaris, Odysseas Voudouris and Theodoros Parastatidis. However, in the last meeting of SYRIZA’s political secretariat, the majority of the members were against the inclusion of all four of them!

The meeting will be followed by SYRIZA’s congress, at the Tae Kwon Do indoor stadium, during which the party’s election campaign will officially be launched.
