Trucks carrying humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip crossed the corridor for the first time today through the floating pier constructed by the US, according to a statement from the US Army. This is the first shipment of humanitarian aid to reach the corridor following seven months of the devastating war. Notably, Thursday morning, U.S. Central Command confirmed the anchoring of a temporary pier constructed by the United States to facilitate the distribution of humanitarian aid delivered by sea in Gaza.

The British Foreign Office announced on Wednesday that a vessel loaded with aid had sailed from the port of Larnaca in Cyprus to this floating pier. About 100 tons of temporary shelters are expected to be unloaded for the residents of Gaza, 2.4 million people, around 70% of whom have been displaced due to the war, in an already densely populated corridor under siege for seven months. Israel launched an attack on the Gaza Strip in response to a bloody incursion on its territory by Hamas militants on October 7.
