The Greek Armed Forces reinforced with 1,200 M1117 armoured vehicles (video)

They were gifted to the Greek army by the US

Newsroom December 1 11:29

Following the imminent deployment of Rafale fighter jets in the Air Force and the completion of the procurement of 3 Belharra frigates for the Navy, it appears that it is the Army’s turn to strengthen its arsenal, as the gradual deployment of 1,200 US troops M1117 Guardian (ASV- Armored Security Vehicle) in its ranks has started. These are vehicles that were provided by the USA, from their strategic reserves, in our country, with the Greek side undertaking only the cost of their transportation, equipment, and maintenance, which does not exceed 100 million euros.

The first 44 vehicles arrived last Friday at the facilities of 301 Ag. Anargyros, Attica, from Kaiserslautern, Germany, from where they were transported by rail. Their official reception, however, is scheduled to take place on Thursday in the presence of the political and military leadership of the Ministry of National Defence. According to information, the specific armoured vehicles are in excellent condition both in terms of their mechanical parts and in terms of their armour.
