The Greek photographer who took pictures of Ethiopia’s Orthodox Christians

The spiritual world of Ethiopia is the subject of the new photographic exhibition of Lizzie Manolas which will be inaugurated on August 30 in Venice

Lizzie Manolas wanted to capture the Christian spirit in Ethiopia. For this purpose, the Greek photographer traveled eight times within four years to Ethiopia, a country with a strong Christian tradition since the 4th century AD. Among the photos collected, the ancient Orthodox monasteries and churches, which are the touchstone of everyday life in Ethiopia, stand out.

“The photographs are certainly dominated by the faith, devotion, sensitivity and kindness of the Ethiopians Christians. Maybe this feeling is what makes these images unique. What touched me was their Orthodoxy, which is unknown to us, like the ceremonies, which are completely different,” said Lizzie Manola to “Ethnos” newspaper.
