The Guardian: Mykonos got back its lost lustre

“They have come like an invading army: Hollywood stars such as Lohan, DJs, singers, footballers and basketball stars, a rollcall of famous names snapped sipping champagne, dancing and partying on Mykonos’s famous beaches,” says the Guardian

Helena Smith’s article on The Guardian website ranks Mykonos as the big winner of this summer. The article states that celebrities visiting the island are putting the glamour of Mykonos back into Greece.

The island made famous in the Sixties with visits by Jackie Onassis and Grace Kelly is back in the spotlight as the undisputed summer queen. “A rollcall of famous names snapped sipping champagne, dancing and partying on Mykonos’s famous beaches,” says Smith have ensured that Mykonos has supplanted Ibiza as the de rigueur hangoug for celebrities and clubbers.

This year Mykonos had beautiful bombshells (CLICK HERE), football stars, scandals and champagne  (CLICK HERE), movie stars (CLICK HERE), mega-yachts (CLICK HERE) and there’s still more coming (CLICK HERE).

The Guardian article quotes figures released by the Association of Greek Tourism Enterprises (SETE) where visitors have stated greater overall satisfaction with islands such as Mykonos than Ibiza, Sardinia or St. Tropez. “In terms of value, the Cycladic island was rated 84.2%, compared with 80.5% for Ibiza and 79% for St. Tropez.

And with movies like “As Greek as it Gets” being released chances are there’s more of an influx to come.
