“Three times this month fires broke out on Mount Aigaleo. Each time, firefighting forces contained the fire before it spread. Today, the Turkish arsonist was arrested and confessed. He will be brought to justice under the new law. We will be relentless with arsonists,” stated Minister of Citizen Protection Vasilis Kikilias.

Today’s fire in Aspropyrgos, which broke out early Sunday afternoon, was contained in 20 minutes by 43 firefighters, 2 ground teams, 9 vehicles, and a helicopter. The fire was moving toward the mountain without threatening any settlements.
