Three couples divorce in Rhodes over vaccination of their children

It is a rising phenomenon

A side effect of the Covid-19 vaccination programme is a rise in the cases of divorces on the island of Rhodes. The dispute between parents over whether or not their children will be vaccinated against the coronavirus has led three couples from Rhodes to file for divorce in the courts of the island.

According to a report by the local news outlet “Rodiaki”, the couple have already initiated the relevant proceedings and in the next period, some of them are expected to reach the courtrooms.

Based on the same report, the main disagreement between the couples has to do with whether or not their children should get the Covid-19 vaccine. In these cases, one of the parents is for the action and the other considers that the child or their children should not be vaccinated.

The parents in all three cases are aged 40-50 years and have diametrically opposed views on the subject, which is said to have been the cause of their divorce!

However, psychologists who generally deal with the investigation of behaviours during the pandemic, emphasise, among other things, that this can certainly be the reason for a couple to break up their relationship/marriage.

It is a fact, based on data that in the last two years divorces and tensions between couples have increased, as well as incidents of domestic and gender-based violence, long before the issue of vaccination emerged in families.

Similar disagreements on the issue have led to divorces in other parts of the country, while it is considered certain that these three cases will not be the only ones!
