Traffic police in Attica: 252 tickets, 19 drivers to justice

834 cars and motorcycles were checked from Friday to Saturday morning

March started well for 196 drivers who were caught in the trap of the Attica Traffic Police for a series of violations of the Road Traffic Code from 6 a.m. on Friday morning until the same time on Saturday.

A total of 19 drivers were brought to justice, while 252 tickets (fines) were issued, 49 vehicles were immobilized, and the police officers of the Attica Traffic Police Directorate removed 64 driving licenses, 57 registration permits and 44 license plates.

Most of the offences (39) were related to non-use of seat belts and helmets (30).

The breathalyser detected 29 drivers who had had one or more drinks too many, while 21 drivers were detected by traffic radar speeding.

Four drivers had broken the red light, the same number were talking on their mobile phones, three were showing off, one was making dangerous manoeuvres, while 11 vehicles were found to have failed to pass an MOT, four were found to be making excessive noise and three were found to be uninsured.

A taxi driver was fined for selecting customers, while 136 other offences were recorded.

The police officers of the Traffic Accident Control and Prevention Teams (O.E.P.T.A.) of the Attica Traffic Police Directorate checked a total of 579 cars, 60 public vehicles, 162 motorcycles and 33 motorbikes.
