TripAdvisor: Greek restaurants among the best in the world (photos)

The romantic, the "hidden gem" and the vegetarian

Newsroom October 4 07:36

Millions of travellers consult TripAdvisor before making any choice for food or coffee both in Greece and abroad. The reviews are in the thousands in most establishments and an award from this platform can mean a lot for the popularity of an eatery. TripAdvisor is handing out the Best of the Best awards for 2023 by section and Greece has strong representation.

According to the online platform, the awards are given to restaurants with a high number of rave reviews and opinions from the community over a 12-month period. Each winner meets the medium’s strict standards of trust and security, and less than 1% of the 8 million listings on Tripadvisor are rewarded with a Best of the Best award.

Two Greek restaurants in the world’s most romantic restaurants

The Greek islands attract millions of tourists every year and the nightlife may be highly advertised, but there are plenty of couples from abroad who choose our country for a romantic getaway. In TripAdvisor’s Best of the Best awards for the world’s most romantic restaurants, there are two Greek ones.

The first restaurant on the list is at number 3 and it is “Mylos A La Carte Restaurant” in Rhodes with more than 1,120 reviews and the absolute highest score. “Exploring Greek cuisine with a modern twist, Mylos offers a local touch to your evening dining experience. Overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and with Mount Tsampika in the background, our chefs offer the most traditional, local dishes, offering you a true Greek experience in the most atmospheric atmosphere,” the restaurant says of its services.

At number 7 on the list is the “Almyra” restaurant in Santorini with almost 3,000 reviews on the platform. The restaurant is located at Almiras Beach in Akrotiri, on the southwest coast of Santorini, 10 km from Thyra, and is a quiet place for relaxation and rest. Despite its beauty, this beach is not particularly well known to visitors to Santorini. The beach is not organized and consists of pebbles and crystal clear, calm waters.

The top Greek vegetarian restaurant

An award from TripAdvisor was also given to a Greek vegetarian restaurant that placed sixth on the list. It is Vegan Beat Athens located in Perikleous with over 1,000 reviews and a 5/5 rating. The dishes that stand out at the small shop in Monastiraki are the vegetarian “pithos” with mushroom gyro, the special potatoes, the special burgers, and the vegan feta cheese that the shop offers.

The Greek Hidden Treasure

TripAdvisor’s award has been given to one more place in Greece that belongs to the “hidden treasures” category. They are shops, that is, that you can not easily find them or do not… fill the eye of many people.

At position 6 of this list is “Victory Cafe” in Philellinon in Athens, which has 1,414 reviews with an absolute score.
