Tsipras attempts to set new agenda, speaks of ‘fair growth’

Speech under the Acropolis

Greek PM Alexis Tsipras is laying out his government’s new plan to bring growth to the Greek economy under the Acropolis at the ‘Greece 2012’ event. The Greek PM is trying to change the narrative and change the political agenda. The Greek cabinet is present at the event. Tsipras started his speech with a remark on the murder of British Labour MP, Jo Cox saying that the common enemy was nationalism and hate towards diversity. The Greek PM’s ‘fair growth’ was the theme of his speech, and he presented his plans for a restructuring of the productive means, the unblocking of large projects and funding tools like the European Structural and Investment Fund (ESPA) and the Juncker package. Tsipras dissociate the growth the previous governments wanted to achieve from his vision…’These days the country is closing a cycle. We reached an agreement with our partners and which we put to the Greek people in the September elections’, said Tsipras. ‘All our government’s efforts are focused on a strategic goal: Promoting just growth’, he underlined. Including the marginalised people out of employment in the process of economic development is one of the definitions, according to Tsipras of fair growth. he said the vision of his government was viable and democratic apart from fair.
