Tsipras: We (SYRIZA) must change

A fight between conservatives and progressives in Europe

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Wednesday again stressed that the powers that wanted Greece out of the Eurozone will be denied.

Speaking during a visit to the infrastructure and transport ministry, he underlined that ‘Greece would not offer them any cause to push us out of Europe’, clearly referring to German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schauble’s Grexit plan.

He also expressed his optimism that an agreement would be reached paving the way for the new bailout money that would end uncertainty in the Greek economy.

“I believe no one can hide anymore. All intentions have come to light, nor can Europe’s failings be hidden”, said Tsipras condemning what he called a ‘secret plan’ to push Greece out of the Eurozone.

He added that what the world had witnessed over the past few months was the clash of Greece with conservative ideas in Europe, a clash between conservatives and progressives. Alluding to his radical leftist party’s internal rift, he said that ‘we have to change ourselves, by giving a hard fight inside and overthrowing all the things that brought Greece here’.
