Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, an Indian pop star and spiritual TV guru, is being investigated after convincing 400 men to be castrated so that they could come closer to … God. India Today rights that the man whose wealth amounts to $50 mln encouraged his followers to get their testicles removed.

The case saw the light of day after 35-year-old Hans Raj Chauhan, a former follower, deeply regreted the decision and filed a petition against the guru in 2012. Chauhan’s lawyer, Navkiran Singh, told the Sydney Morning Herald that the victims were told that they would find God in this way.

The wealthy spiritual guru has 87,000 Twitter followers and describes himself as “spiritual Saint/philanthropist/versatile singer/allrounder sportsperson/film director/art director/music director/script writer/lyricist/autobiographer/DOP”.
