Two Russian journalists accused of espionage in the Ukraine

The TV station manager speaks of ridiculous accusations

Two journalists of Russian Zvezda television station were accused of “espionage” and are being held by the Ukrainian National Guard.

The two journalists were arrested yesterday, Friday, when they were nearing an army checkpoint near Slaviansk.

During the routine check, according to Russia Today news agency, they were handcuffed and taken to an unknown location by helicopter.

Since then, contact with them has been lost, while the TV station’s director has given an answer, characterizing the accusations of espionage as ridiculous.

Members of the Ukrainian National Guard said that the two men are at the Security Service’s offices in order to “determine the cause of their visit”.
