Ukraine war – Tensions rising as USS Harry S. Truman carrier sails into North Aegean

At present, the “Harry Truman” is less than 1,000 miles from the theater of operations in Ukraine

The presence of the US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier “Harry Truman” in the North Aegean is a clear message from the US government to Vladimir Putin that Washington is closely monitoring the war in Ukraine.
At the end of last week, the US nuclear-powered aircraft carrier sailed north of Corfu heading south. Today, Friday, March 4, according to reliable sources in the hands of protothema.gr, the nuclear-powered American aircraft carrier is moving in international waters in the North Aegean, accompanied by American destroyers, frigates, and auxiliary ships. The giant, 333-metre-long aircraft carrier, has a total of 90 fighter jets and helicopters.

At a time when Ankara has closed the Bosphorus Straits, preventing other warships from entering the Black Sea and having previously given the green light to dozens of Russian warships that have surrounded Ukraine by sea, the presence of “Harry Truman” indicates the level of how high tensions RE at the moment.

At present, the “Harry Truman” is less than 1,000 miles from the theater of operations in Ukraine. This comes at a time when the Russian president has announced that he has put Moscow’s nuclear arsenal on alert, citing Russian concern about a possible US nuclear strike.

“NATO does not want a war with Russia,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said today as US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken warned that a red line was to defend NATO territory. It should be noted that both Romania and Hungary with Slovakia and Poland – four countries bordering on war-torn Ukraine – are NATO members.
