UN: People of Syria feel abandoned

According to UN Sec. General Ban Ki-moon

The Syrian people feel “abandoned by the whole world”, according to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, as the international community focuses on the ISIS threat.

In its 13th monthly report on Syria towards the UN Security Council, the UN chief mentions that no one has answered for the war crimes in Syria over the four years of civil war.

He said that more than 220,000 people have been killed after the 2011 insurrection.

The number of refugees has risen to four million, while the number of those that had to abandon their homes ranges around 7.6 million.

Ban stated that even though humanitarian aid reaches several million people, the situation for 4.8 million people, and especially the 212,000 in areas under siege is dire, since aid cannot reach them.

The UN requires 8.4 billion USD to cover the Syrian humanitarian aid needs for 2015.
